EVENT DESCRIPTION
Since its original production in 1869, Richard Wagne'r Der Ring des Nibelungen (known as the "Ring cycle" attracted scholarly and popular debate. In this 90-minute guided discussion, explore the connections between his four epic operas, classical mythology, and ancient theater through works of art in the Getty Museum's collection. Meet at the Tour Meeting Place. Presented in partnership with LA Opera's Ring Festival LA, April--June 2010.
The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Villa will offer special Gallery Tours that explore Greek myth and drama as it connects to the Ring cycle. Dates and times of tours are TBD.
