 | RING FESTIVAL LA EVENTS MARCH 2010 Celebrating the Arts, LA Style LA Opera has joined forces with more than 100 of Los Angeles' cultural and educational institutions to stage the first significant citywide cultural festival since the 1984 Olympic Arts Festival. The cultural celebration will include exhibitions, symposia, museum shows, conferences, performances and special events. All of these events will be thematically related to LA Opera's first-ever presentation in Los Angeles of the four-opera drama Der Ring des Nibelungen, Wagner's Ring cycle. Ring Festival LA events will take place in a diverse variety of venues throughout Southern California, with each organization providing its own unique point of view on the influences of Wagner's art and philosophy from the 19th century to the present day. Although Ring Festival LA will officially take place from April 15 through June 30, Ring-related events are already underway. "These early events are informing Angelenos of what is yet to come," said Barry Sanders, the Leader of Ring Festival LA. "The last big citywide celebration of the arts, the Olympic Arts Festival, took place 25 years ago, with much of the programming imported to Los Angeles. Thanks to our partners, Ring Festival LA will show the world the best of what the region's arts, education and cultural institutions have to offer."
