Even though Ring Festival LA doesn't officially launch until April 15, 2010, excitement and enthusiasm is already building with partner events taking place now during the phase we call "Road to the Ring Festival."  LOS ANGELES TRADE-TECHNICAL COLLEGE Los Angeles Trade-Technical College launched their year-long celebration of the Ring cycle with the Gold Thimble fashion Show on Friday, May 29, 2009. The graduating fashion design students showcased their designs based on Wagner's Ring to an overflowing audience at the Downtown Sheraton Hotel. THE CALIFORNIA ART CLUB On Saturday, May 29, 2009, the California Art Club celebrated the Ring cycle in a public event in Carson at the 7,500 square foot studio of CAC Signature Artist Alexey Steele in an  afternoon event featuring a lecture, live music, and painting of models posing outfitted as characters from Wagner's Ring operas. Attendees had the opportunity to see the artists in action, hear a talk about the Ring cycle given by Bonnie Helms of LA Opera's Speakers Bureau, as well as watch Der Ring des Nibelungen in a private theatre environment - all at the same time. |
